Geolyn offers small diameter CCTV video inspection services and large diameter long distance inspections.
SMALL DIAMETER INSPECTIONS
Push Camera
Geolyn uses a small push camera for 6” and under pipe diameter inspections. This service is ideally suited for visually inspecting pipe issues from homes to the sewer connection point in the street. The camera is inserted into the clean out access point in the basement of the house and is pushed manually out to the street inside the connection pipe. The images are viewed “real time” on a screen located with the equipment and also recorded on a DVD recorder. Images can be analyzed and decisions made on the spot regarding repairs or solutions for the problem.
Robotic Inspections
Geolyn uses tracked robotic vehicles to motor through pipes. Attached to the robot are various inspection devices that recover data and transmit that data through the cable tether back to trailer. An operator sits in the trailer and manages the robot progress at a control panel. The operator can control the robot and camera movement through joysticks located on the operator panel and can also observe “real time” the images being sent back by the camera. A small in line dual track robot is used on surveys from 8” diameter pipe up to 15” diameter and a parallel two track robot is used for surveys up to 48”. In addition to CCTV recording, Geolyn also offers laser profiling of interior pipe walls, mandrel testing for deflection testing, sonar imaging for submerged inspections and GPS mapping. The robot is attached to a tether cable that also can be used to pull the robot back out of the pipe in the unlikely event that the robot became disabled in the pipe. The tether is 1200 feet long and carries multiple channels for various data measurements. The camera is a full tilt and pan unit that offers high resolution and color recording. The images are recorded using a computer based recording program and stores the data in an MPEG4 format. The data is later burned onto a DVD for the final report.
Remote Robotic Arm
Geolyn has a remote robotic vehicle with a fully articulating arm for performing in-pipe repairs eliminating the need to dig up the line. The slave robot is towed into the repair location by the robot, positioned and then the operator performs the repair in the pipe watching it on the screen. This device can also be used to cut out laterals after a lining job.
LARGE DIAMETER & LONG DISTANCE INSPECTIONS
Geolyn has a specially equipped long distance trailer and robot for doing both large diameter pipe (48” and above) and traveling long distances (10,000 feet). This trailer has a large robot that can generate CCTV images, laser, sonar and GPS tracking solutions. The 10,000 foot cable has a gas chamber built into it that permits the cable to float on the water surface thus reducing the drag and friction of the cable on the robot pulling the cable. This trailer unit has a large operator and viewing area that allows the pipe owner or his consultant access to view the results of the inspection “real time” and make instant decisions, if necessary.
